Specialized in Stems and Branches Acupuncture
Stems and Branches theory and practice is part of an ancient Chinese medical tradition that was lost with the rise of Mao Tse Tung, forcing those who practiced Chinese medicine to flee the new People’s Republic of China.
Stems and Branches Acupuncture is about cycles of nature, transformations and interactions of Qi (Vital life energy) that affect a person both internally and externally.
The ancient Chinese observed day and night and the changing seasons. They recognized that natural rhythms in nature underlie fundamental aspects of our lives, and are thus fundamental to our health. They believed in a holistic world in which everything in the universe was interconnected.
According to this theory, humans are a reflection of the universe, based on the idea of microcosm of the human body in reflection of the macrocosm of the environment. This means that the same rules that work in nature are represented in and therefore affect humans. The movement in our body is exactly similar to the big cosmic movement.
Stems and Branches theory is used to help us understand each patient’s constitutional strengths and weaknesses, and why disease occurs in that individual. This helps us develop a treatment plan to address the root cause of the patient’s problem using Acupuncture.
